Cirrus, thanks for the Sanders interview. As usual, the guy can't resist talking about Intel, as you said, but overall, he did a good job conveying optimism about AMD's future. However, there are a few quotes which I take issue with:
"I would observe that the X-Box is a very impressive competitive offering to PlayStation2."
So either Jerry already knows the inside scoop on X-Box, which is likely if the thing really is using Athlons, or he's talking out of his tailpipe again.
"This is unheard of for Intel. How can it have these problems all of a sudden? This is a company with 10 times our R&D spending, and 10 times our revenue. How could it have these problems?"
With comments like these, it's like Jerry is basically challenging Intel to a vicious price war this year. I wonder if Albert Yu has read this interview. Knowing Yu, he's not likely to take those comments sitting down.
"I hope you know that Athlon outperforms Pentium III on every benchmark, clock for clock."
Uh huh, Jerry. And Apple's iMac runs rings around the Pentium II, according to BYTEmark, the "industry standard" according to Steve Jobs. At least Apple's marketing department does a better job at conveying this notion than you do.
Well, that's it for now. I'll be waiting for Part 2 of the Sanders interview.
