When discussing Java apps, we are talking about something very different from MetaFrame.

The issues are similar to those discussed the first time the subject of Java was thrashed out on this thread. Java apps have to be written for specific tasks. Certainly they have an important place in the computing world.

Running off-the-shelf Windows apps via MetaFrame is just not the same thing at all.

There is some overlap of functionality, but for the most part different situations will call for one or the other. It isn't usually a matter of deciding which one scales better.

All my own opinion, of course.
