I am interested in the TIVO type of VCR -- at present the technology seems too proprietary (subscription service component) and relatively limited capacity. I doubt the x-box, presently speculated to have a small HD (4gig), would work well in this area. However, it would be a great extension of the x-box concept.

The flexibility of a PC is one of its major advantages relative to single purpose devices. Of course, this can also lead to complexity which is one its major limitations for many.
