Nortel Networks And Vodafone To Test Wireless Internet RDSL 01 March 2000 Mobile giant Vodafone AirTouch (UK) and Nortel Networks are joining forces to test a packet-based IP architecture for wireless Internet services in Dallas, Texas. The test will begin in March 2000 and will aim to demonstrate that wireless service costs can be significantly cut via the use of packet technology, 3G radio technology and industry-standard servers. The trial will use the CDMA Metro Call radio base stations and Passport packet switching equipment from Nortel.
