Actually I don't see an Elon refrigerator. Refrigerators might be controlled by Thalia for instance. However I do see huge energy savings with the government possibly speeding up the use home automation with tax cuts for property owners.

Let's say you are at work, why run your heat or air conditioning all day if no one is home? With Elon and your handheld device, one hour upon your return, you can turn on your heat or air before returning home. Or, let's say you are on a trip, you can control your home, (lights and heat/air) while away via your phone, pda, or laptop. You can make it appear like someone is actually at home when you are away by just logging into your iLon server and turning the lights on or off in various rooms. This will all be done via the internet.

Energy conservation, cost savings would be a huge impetus to urge consumers to move into automation. Of course, a tax incentive would add greatly to the equation. That is the short term vision I have of Echelon.
