MICROSOFT UNVEILS MOBILE WEB ACCESS, WILL DEVELOP DEVICES WITH QUALCOMM Microsoft is seeking to expand its Web reach by introducing a system that enables wireless appliance users to send and receive e-mail, check stock quotes, and make travel arrangements through the Microsoft Expedia Service. The company has enlisted Nextel Communications and AirTouch Communications to distribute its new interactive service, named MSN Mobile 2.0. The service, an upgraded version of Microsoft's existing one-way wireless Web service, is set to become available in April. In a separate deal, Microsoft will collaborate with Qualcomm to use the latter's CDMA technology to develop smart phones and wireless pocket personal computers. (Wall Street Journal, 29 Feb 2000)
