OPEC is not threatening the US economy. It is those 20 something gamblers a.k.a day traders who are threatening the economy. If US is printing more and more of those dollars which only need forest as backing, there is nothing wrong in OPEC asking for more of those papers for one of the most scarce commodities on earth.
