Rumored alliances in the communications industry sent stock in the local phone companies as well as Qwest Communications International higher today, fueling speculation that another round of merger mania could be on the horizon. ((((SECX on ground floor here))))))

Speculation is swirling on Wall Street that local phone giants BellSouth and SBC Communications may merge their U.S. wireless operations. That would make the duo a worthy adversary to wireless giants such as Sprint PCS, Nextel Communications and AT&T.
