OK, I personally am getting sick of the term "TRUST" in almost every post. This I.T. community IS NOT becoming more trusting and in fact I would argue that with all the hacker attacks that will only get worse and the viruses that are spreading around virally that TRUST is farthest from any person's or organisation's mind!

It is because of the Internet's inherent side-effect of providing a revolutionary scale of openess that TRUST in the industry has dropped substantially as of recently. I would agree that initially the Internet users offered a naive level of TRUST to others on the Internet, BUT that TRUST has been abused countless number of times.

Evidence of a collapsing level of TRUST is the number of REQUIRED firewalls (both corporate and personal) and use of aliases (i.e. ToySoldier) and anti-virus, and other protections that are going up all over the "NET". That is not a sign of an ever increasing level of TRUST in this new community.

SOOOOOOO

Although TRUST is the end goal among participants on the Internet, "The NET", the community; this TRUST will only return when new technologies are developed to protect the individual from potential evils that could be inflicted on them by all other external entities.

And if you think of that scenario... If an individual needs fool-proof security models and technologies in place in order to so called "TRUST" another then exactly what TRUST does one have. ANSWER: NONE! NADA! ZERO!

In this day and age we dont need TRUST, we need SECURITY. Only that will provide the false sense of trust that we need to provide the required business and community transactions that we all want to see come out of the new "NET" community.

So, I for one am getting tired of the well over abused term "TRUST". I will agree to the word "OPEN", but TRUST????

Time to put a TRUST spam filter on my SI :)

Just my thoughts! (bad day I guess)
