WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S.A. (NB) -- By Newsbytes Staff, Networking Roundup. US Digital Communications Inc. [OTC:USDI] has acquired Global Positioning Technologies Inc. of West Palm Beach, Fla. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. USDI says GPT's technology is designed to develop asset tracking and real-time single-frame video wireless communications applications which will be additional components of USDI's value-added services for satellite platforms. GPT was originally founded in 1993 as Secure Research & Electronics by current president, Steven Barket. USDI says Barket will be "working directly" with USDI's International Satellite Group "to provide solutions for domestic and international industries that require real-time global location data worldwide." The high profile Iridium satellite telecommunications system will feature heavily in the company's future, with an international call center set for the first quarter in Las Vegas, Nev. The center will begin life handling GPT's tracking system for Iridium telephone users.
