AMD claims the 64-bit extension on the processors only costs 5% more die space. So if a Sledgehammer never runs any x86-64 stuff its not like half the processor will be worthless.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if this ever happens. I'm hoping AMD and Microsoft's relationship grows a LOT since it seems Microsoft will use the Athlon or a derivative in X-Box.
