As someone who was new to trading last year, I kept poor records. Stocktax was a lifesaver this week as I had to reconcile over $10,000,000 in 1600 trades.

I simply downloaded my trading history from Datek, ran StockTax and voila -- my attachment to Schedule D.

When I cross-checked it against the 1099B Datek sent me, the only errors I found were Datek's. They omitted several trades from one day in May. (Luckily, I had the confirmation pages.) When the dust settled, I was able to reconcile to within 4 cents -- which I attribute to rounding errors. StockTax was an excellent investment for me and I recommend it to do-it-yourself types.
