This GHz hype will bring consumers out to get them, and when they find the fastest Intel CPU to be 733 MHz, they may just as well buy the fastest thing that the store is selling.

We can only speculate here, but how likely is it that Intel actually can produce reasonable volume so that at least the retail stores in major media markets have supply?

Could it be that Intel is going to pull an old AMD trick and sell chips from their experimental fab, that have not gone into full production?

It doesn't seem very likely that Intel can get enough 1 GHz chips from regular production, since they still can't produce enough 800 MHz chips.
