According to documents filed by Iridium in the New York bankruptcy court 2/18/00 (agreeing to transfer to New York), Iridium has 66 functioning satellites and 6 spares. This jibes with other info posted elsewhere - the confusion may be that several (12, I think, but not sure or the exact number) of the launched ADDITIONAL launched satellites are non-functional. Bankruptcy proceedings are not as slow as ordinary litigation, so don't get your hopes up, IMO. ecf.nysb.uscourts.gov
