rudedog - your a knowledgeable fellow - and that counts for a lot. As Cheryl says you claim to be an expert in engineering as well as sales and WOW- you can pull those percentages out like there's no tomorrow - you come across as fair minded but reading your postings on the Microsoft thread you clearly are biased against Sun. Now I had this very same conversation with you several years ago where you claimed that the majority of Oracle databases were on NT and that Oracle applications were also primarily on NT as of 1997 - now i disagreed strongly at that point but i didnt say it then but I WORKED AT ORACLE IN THE APPLICATIONS GROUP in 1997 and we didnt release any applications on NT until the last month of the final quarter of the year so hearing you go on about how the a majority of the applications were on NT was bizarre - as we had maybe 3 small customers. You claim you get these numbers from the vendors themselves but you are either getting the wrong information or you twist themselves around to meet your predetermined conclusion that NT is the deployment platform of choice for enterprise system vendors - which was not the case then and is not the case now. I speak too many SAP employees since i left Oracle and i dont particularly know or care what % of SAP gets deployed on NT i know theres a heck more on the client than on the server. The last time i came across a platform decision at SAP was when they had to internally deploy MYSAP and guess what platform that was on???
