Your message implies that since you 'gave up fighting' and 'capitulated' that you were not guilty of the crime.

Did you break the law?

If you did, then you are guilty, and the people that prosecuted you did the right thing, and the wisest thing to do if you really want to move ahead is to admit to yourself that you broke the law, and not to continue to imply that some injustice was done to you.

If you did it, then you are responsible for what happened to you; not somebody else. You.

Dig: people who refuse to accept the consequences that result from their own actions may not be the best people to seek advice from, eh?
