TSCP Friday March 3, 11:55 am Eastern Time Company Press Release Telscape International, Inc. Announces Completion of the Construction of its Mexican Fiber Optic Network HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 3, 2000--Telscape International, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSCP - news), today announced that its Mexican subsidiary, Telereunion, S.A. de C.V., has completed the construction of its state-of-the-art fiber optic network in Mexico and is currently testing the network.
Oscar Garcia, President of Telereunion, commented: ``The completion of our network is a significant milestone in the development of our company. The deployment was done on time and on budget. We are currently testing approximately 1,800 kilometers of our 3,300 route kilometers. The balance relates to the fiber exchanges with other carriers previously announced and these portions of the network will be tested as they come on line. We will start rolling out existing services and new products in different cities associated with the network as it becomes available. We continue to pursue the 'smart build`` strategy previously disclosed and will announce further enhancements to our network as they develop. One of the key components of our overall strategy is to become a leading provider of integrated communications solutions and services, including data and Internet, to retail and business customers throughout Latin America. Access to abundant and cost effective bandwidth is clearly becoming a major competitive advantage and essential in order to provide the advanced, high margin services customers require.'
