Perhaps Veritas could buy Seagate, then spin off the disk drive & tape units to shareholders. Or sell it to... anyone. Samsung would like to be a big player in the dd business, and given the strength in the DRAM business, I think they might even have the money to do it. They would get big fast, real fast, and Veritas has their 30-35% stake back. For less than the market is currently valuing it. I haven't done all of the math to figure out if that would be worth it, but....

Seagate stock is sure looking strong these days, unlike every other company in this sector except for VECO. Over 54 now.
