Tony, RE: limited editions

I'm sure Intel would rather release a new product when they have pieces at all the OEM's. Because of AMD, they don't seem to have that luxury anymore.

So if all you have are lemons, make lemonade. Thats what marketing is all about. Release the products as special limited editions, their scarcity makes them a more compelling purchase for some consumers. The auto companies do this with a hot new vehicle, the Mazda Miata comes to mind. Folks were paying way over sticker price because availability was very limited. Mazda got lots of press. When the car became available at standard prices, the average consumer views it as a bargain. Does that translate to computers, I think it might.

It looks like that is what Intel is doing. And I'm sure some folks will think it's pretty cool to have one of the very few 1 GHz computers around. In fact, I wouldn't mind owning one.

BTW, a new all time high is pretty cool also.
