Joe, I agree that the anti-piracy measures are taking things totally in the wrong direction. They need to be implemented slowly and allow the public to digest the changes rather than going full throttle at the beginning.

Yet another thing I wont be putting on my Christmas gift list then. It will pair up nicely with the Sony device I also dont want!

I hope the public purchases devices capable of playing mp3 and that they turn off the security features until a simple and easily facilitated security mechanism is worked out. As far as selling a device incapable of playing mp3 files, I think this is lunacy. Sony (with its VAIO clip) clearly has the primacy of its record label way ahead of wants and needs of the consumer.

I think the RIAA could be creative in many other ways rather than going for iron-clad security mechanisms. In the end it seems like this will only drive consumers further and further away from legitimate purchasing of content.

Recall that newer devices using the SDMC will be backward-compatible with MMC. I think this was another huge win for SNDK and the consumer.
