The Priceline.com team has done it again!

The CEO points to the uniqueness of the name your own price. I do have a problem with this and maybe I actually do need some education on the Priceline business model. Because, technically the priceline business model is nothing different to other etailer's or auction sites. Whether I use Ubid.com's bid butler on a short time closing auction or are using priceline 'name my own price' there will be no conceptual difference. There are a lot of different types of auction's, but they all rest on the idea of off loading access supply. Priceline.com has all the compettition in the world.

Also, the idea of getting into all the vertical markets is in the footsteps of anybody else too. Priceline.com will suffer, because the execution aspect of all these markets will not show any profit for a long time.

If you have any doubt about the business model, then give it a try on the Priceline.com web site. It will make you feel that the business model is just a primitive etailer/auction site very similar to an Egghead.com.

Its amazing that the news this week combined with the overall market condition has pumped the stock price to 74 giving Priceline.com a market Cap well above the 10 Billion.

The stock is at the most worth a couple of dollars, so expect to see the 50 level within a couple of weeks.
