Ruff. It has been pointed out that KYO purchased zero asics from QCOM in the December quarter. Now, they are presumably purchasing all their ASICS from QCOM for Japan as well as purchasing those for US (the margin on which QCOM was using to subsidize their phone sales). It has been reported elsewhere that the KYO sale may increase QCOM earinigs for the year by $0.40 or so.So we have a one time wrote down for the KYO sale and a $0.02/share (is that for 1 quarter) write down for the snaptrack purchase--yet Q already has the Shap Track technology in its chips. Also, the new KYO phone (for july 2000 release)has voice recognition, speakerphone, large screen, and other features.

I guess I am trying to figure the source of the alleged downward earnings pressure---surely, if it exists, it could be for no more than 1 quarter.
