Luke, I've seen lots of hype and wild predictions online, but never have I seen someone actually claim to be an employee of a company who turned out not to be. I mean, whether you work for a particular company is so obviously verifiable (just call the company and ask to speak to the person) that I can't imagine why anyone would try making that kind of thing up. Insofar as the Motley Fool's "promo" of Iomega, I followed that board for a while and can tell you that what you suggest was hot air and baseless hype turned out to be 100% solid analysis. That board was 100% on target and way ahead of everyone else -- great product, great sales, etc. I remember seeing estimates of $6 EPS for FY '96 -- this, when the company had made just $.10 in the 3rd quarter. I thought these guys were crazy. Well, after the stock split 6 times, it looks as though Iomega is well on its way to earning close to $1 this year. Calling it right well ahead of mainstream analysts is hardly what I would call hype; it's called good analysis. We simply need to separate the wheat from the chaff. Our friend Chuck appears to be big time chaff...and IMP will do very well despite, not because of, (apparent) hypesters like him.
