Elmer,

In view of the fact that AMD is unable to sell all the processors they produce, they are much more likely to have their oversupply spill over to the retail market such as pricewatch.

This channel is important part of overall market. THis is the "Other" that always leads in all survays of box makers, ahead of Compaq, Dell, IBM and HP.

The fact that during the current shortage Intel treats these vendors as second class citizens is a new phenomenon. This is the most profitable segment of the market for both Intel and AMD, because these guys pay the list price.

It doesn't seem to matter to you if systems are selling with GHz processors

It does matter, but in view of your long running discussion with steve, it is hard to determine if the box maker really is selling and delivering boxes to customers. And there is no way to determine if the box maker got 1 CPU or 100,000.

you really want to find out who has excess GHz processors they can't sell. Not much of a contest in my view.

All processors are sold eventually. I want to find out who has the supply to satisfy all channels.

I don't know (actually I do) why you are dismissing PriceWatch as a valid measurement. It was considered valid when Intel had parts available through these guys even prior to their announcement, and when AMD and Cyrix chips with high speeds were MIA.
