*OT* <it is the science that determines
a biotech company's success>

Thanks for the comments on CNSI, and while I'm
lurking here--TGEN is another which paid handsomely,
and yet I have given up my shares, at least temporarily
--another mistake? (30m financing seemed too low)
Tgen does not yet have any connection to the systems
biology institute--but does have ties to FHCRC.
And of course the other 90% of the equation seems
to indicate top notch gene therapy scientists at
Tgen itself, with Barrie Carter being their main man.

Seattle biotech news is here:
Subject 33251

I don't want to step in to the debate of whether
Ariad has great platforms (I had surmised that
ARGENT was a "billion dollar platform") or whether
the emperor is wearing no clothes, because while
I am certainly qualified to use up my share of
bandwidth on SI, I am most certainly not qualified to
judge science, or judge valuation issues--I know when
something is obscenely cheap, but that's about it.

Heck, I can scarcely judge the science of meterology,
which is my own discipline. (my own until I buy the
Yurt and start potato farming). <g>
