alexa: Tut-tut-tut! Just as you were beginning to rise in the stock market of philosophical precepts and values you have to go and sell Man's spirit short. "Collectivism" is an economic or political travesty that advocates having control over all property, production, distribution and (ultimately) men. In a free workplace, each person's talent, ambition, self-discipline, experience and knowledge have a value. A person can offer that value and a set amount of time in return for money -- money being the accepted symbol of the value of all goods and services (production). IT IS A FREE EXCHANGE. NON-COERCIVE. No one forces a person to accept any particular jub, or stay at any particular job. . . except in a closed, collectivist society where men do not own the value of what they produce -- in fact everyone else has a right to that value EXCEPT the individual who created it! It wasn't until the directive by the government in Atlas Shrugged that all were stuck in the positions they had just prior to the declaration of the directive. Then it became a crime to leave a job or get a job. Everything was frozen. FT
