I do not think Gore is an honest person. I think he is as much of a fabulist/liar as Clinton is and Reagan was.
I did not say I was going to vote for Gore. I said that if I do, I will be holding my nose.
Re George W. Bush-- however enthusiastic you may be about the man having his finger on the buttons of our startegic tacticlear nuleclear weapons, and however "honest" you may believe him to be with the American people-- it is interesting to note that despite repeated requests from the press, he has explicitly refused to answer questions about what understandings were reached with Pat Robertson, and commitments made to him, in their "confidential" meeting. Agreements about, for example, absolute anti-abortion litmus tests on all judicial appointments, denying appointive government employment for individuals known to be homosexual, and even Bush's choice of a vice presidential running mate.
Now, you may suspect that whatever secret promises were made will be to your liking.
But "honest with the American people" is not what I would call refusing to tell those whose support he is seeking what went on in that startegic meeting.
BTW, have you ever seen Pat Robertson on the 700 Club, head bowed, eyes closed, clairvoyantly sweeping the world, picking up the vibrations of individual persons with specific sad maladies, emotional or medical, and seeing them cured, then and there, before his mental eye, and reporting the cure, or progress toward it, to the audience from whom he is recurrently soliciting funds? This charlatan is the one to whom Honest George is beholden in a way he is keeping secret from the voters.
If you want to vote for GWB without holding your nose, good luck to you and to me both. |
