The nice thing about DSL is that it can go a LOT faster than the majority of deployments today: e.g. 384/128.

ISDN was stuck (as far as I know) with 2 lines getting 128. That's it.

I think DSL is in it's infancy. At the high end, ADSL downloads can approach the speeds of Ethernet 10 (not fast Ethernet) and that speed is 10-20x what we're seeing today. As I recall, the high end of WSTL's modem is about 7.5 Mb.

The speeds are listed as:

384Kb-1.5Mb / 128K and
1.5Mb-6.0Mb / 384K

At present, DSL can do a LOT better than what's currently available and then ... what will the future hold.

Modems used to run at 300 and 1200 baud (i.e. 0.3 and 1.2K). IMHO, that's equivalent to the stage we're at now with DSL.
