I console myself in the notion that most of the sales are still in the 500 to 700 MHz range, and no one buying in that range would want to hold off their purchases just because of accelerated MHz and GHz launches.

OK, so 700 to 800 MHz purchases are picking up speed as we speak, which is good news for AMD. But I doubt many customers in this range will want to hold off purchases, either. The problem is that the picture is changing way too quickly anyway, as you say. I think customers are fed up with waiting for "the right time to buy," so they're just going to buy the fastest they can get their hands on at the moment.
