-More powerful PDAs.

-Devices/phones with the ability to conduct transactions at the point-of-sale (simple examples, bridge tolls, gas pumps, vending machines, etc.)

-Home appliances that may be easily controlled from a phone, or deposit voice/text messages to a phone. (Ideally a home network should support all electric appliances so you can dial your home number and instead of just an answering machine/fax combo you could also get options to control various aplliances.)

-MP3-like devices that can receive/store digital music wirelessly.

and so on and so on.

Many of these technologies exist and are commercially available now.
