How does one make money in the market? By trying to see what companies will be driving the economy before other investors will! read the below from Bill Joy. In bold are stocks that have and will fit in to what the other Bills is defining.

The Red Eye: The Joy of the Web
By Tony Perkins
Redherring.com, March 02, 2000

SIX DEGREES OF INNOVATION
Spinning forward to the TED conference, the Red Eye observed Bill J. in a much more positive mode. In his typically forward-thinking (and optimistic) manner, he believes that we are just beginning to witness the beginnings of Web innovation. Bill J. suggests that ultimately six different forms of the Web will emerge.

First, the existing PC-based Web has been deployed. "Basically, the first chapter of the Web was about a narrow-band implementation designed for the PC," he said. NSCP,DELL,SUNW,CSCO,MSFT,INTC

Second, there will be the broadband/entertainment version of the Web, when games, music, and full-motion video will be available for the home entertainment center on demand. This content will be leveraged by interactive TVs and media-rich PCs and game platforms, and will create huge demand for broadband services. This version is just beginning, with an estimated 2 million users in the United States today. CSCO,JDSU,RBAK,SDLI,FDRY,BRCM,INTC siliconinvestor.com siliconinvestor.com;

Third, we will see the mobile Web. This assumes a new type of browser for digital phones, which Bill J. thinks will begin becoming available by next Christmas. This new format will also create a huge boom for new applications that we can hardly even imagine. QCOM,NOK,MOT,PHCM,XNTD

Fourth, we will see the voice Web, when telephone functions and voice services will be available over Internet protocol. Companies like Cisco Systems (Nasdaq: CSCO) are beginning to create routers that will allow traditional telephone switch technologies to operate over the Internet.
CSCO,LU,NT,CMGC,LHSP

Fifth, he predicts that a business-to-business version of the Web will emerge, where machines will be programmed to talk automatically with each other and execute business transactions. This type of setup will be facilitated by the emergence and proliferation of extensible markup language (XML) standards and protocols.

And finally, the smart-object-based Web will come into play, which Mr. Joy believes will be the most fascinating version of them all. This setup will allow, for example, your refrigerator to communicate with your local grocery store and order milk, eggs, and whatever other goods you need, and allow your home security system to be networked to your office, car, and cell phone. Interesting idea and something Mr. Joy firmly believes in as Sun continues to invest money and resources into the still unproven Jini language, designed to make your toaster and refrigerator talk to each other. We will just have to wait and see what's adopted by the industry. ELON notice how ELON nearly stands alone and CSCO is in nearly all categories? <gg> WIND,COMS

There are many more stocks that I have left off but one should get the picture from reading the above.
