A friend of mine is one of the very highly recruited former DEC employees. When I questioned him about Elmer's post regarding what Intel got out of the settlement, he had a most curious reply. To varying degrees, he agreed with
all of Elmer's points EXCEPT one. Regarding the two experienced design teams, he claimed the large majority of the designers including ALL of the key designers left - most just before and some just after the Intel takeover. So, I guess all companies have to deal with people leaving. In fact, with some companies, the people leave BEFORE they even get there.
