This is precisely the point!
Smaller structures lead to (a numerically) higher yield on the wafer, which quickly translates into lower prices, lower turnover and lower profits.
Right now, the products of many semicon manufacturers are on allocation, which means that they can get away with significant price increases. This situation will turn abruptly as the new generation of fabs come on line.
This is what makes life being a semicon manufacturer so tough. Either you pay the very high investment costs to keep up, or you die
