Interesting, but I really don't know whether it would depress market for mined diamonds or possibly even increase it? Will cultured diamonds be cheaper? If so, the perception of value may cause some to still lust after real diamonds, but may lead to a larger market for diamonds. Will cultured diamonds have any undesireable properties? Diamonds have no cleavage per se, but cultured ones might be more brittle or have undesireable visual properties. Also, I suppose they could be visuallly every bit as good and much cheaper. Even if that happens, there may still be an appeal to "natural" diamonds. Like a Rolex watch or Mont Blanc pen, there is a luxury cachet to certain items which nothing else will fulfill. I'm sure DeBeers will have a response. Maybe they'll buy the patents!

As to Ashton being a $4 or $5 stock. I've been in this since $1.92. Made a tiny bit on options and watched it hit $8.05, and even sold a little at $6.50. Then watched dumbfounded as it tanked. I don't have much, but I still have an opinion. I think of this as $1.50-$2.00 stock. I think it will easily get back there and rise into the low 3's on promising news.

I would suspect, however, that it will take very substantial news to push it above that. $4 will take something meaty.

How about, one large diamond getting broken up and giving multiple pieces in the drill string??
