How do I go about loading Win'98 back on my system? Use your good computer to create a Windows 98 start up floppy disk. Then boot your new computer from this Windows 98 start up floppy disk and install Windows 98. Windows 98 will transfer the required drivers, including mscdex.exe, to the start up floppy disk so you can access your IDE CD-ROM drive. Also tried to alter the bootup sequence but it seems to always boot up on C:! Most likely because you don't have mscdex.exe loaded and can't access your CD-ROM drive. and was putting the cards back in when..............I shorted the NIC card against the chassis of the computer box!!!!!! I hope you don't mean what I think you are saying. Are you saying you didn't turn the power off before installing your NIC? If you are saying this then don't forget the preferred method is turn off the power first before installing and removing adapter cards.
