Tom,

Gomer Waterer is a great choice, interesting foliage (big) with a large white/pink flower that will show up well in the shade. Yews are an evergreen that may work also, behind the Rhododendron, Taxus baccata. Ligustrum also likes dense shade.

If you want to fill in under and around the Rhododendrons, you might try Hosta's, Helleborus or Astilbe.

Sarcococca is a groundcover that loves dense shade, it is also very fragrant, right about this time of year.

Have fun. Scott
