re: madness of crowds

1. PE of 8003 is skewed low as almost all of the profit was in Q4. Q1-Q3 reflected Chinese restructuring.

2. The recent "hysterical" run up of TOM still does not reflect the value of the 8003 holdings. Some people are recognising the one time dividend in the run up, but it is still cheap given the 8003 assets.

A Canadian stock that offers exposure to China in an RRSP should trade at a premium to the asset value!

3. 8003 is being held back. I believe someone is trying to get control by purchasing cheap TOM.

I agree the problem is not knowing when to sell, but the problem isn't that people sell late. Most people buy late and sell early. The classic example is a low volume stock. When it finally moves, people liquidate early.

How to get a retailer's shares in a profitable company:

- run a $10 stock from .40 to $3.00
- kill their enthusiasm by pummeling it to $1 on low volume
- let it rise again. They will all thankfully dump at $3

I've sold half my position in TOM to pursue other opportunities, but it is definitely not because TOM is cheap at these prices.

As much as management irritates me (gifting themselves 6% of the company, refusing to answer IR questions, etc.) this company is extremely profitable with growing margins and accelerating revenues.
