I had a feeling the info on the MDT AAA product was false. It would appear based on this post that the Yahoo post on MDT's AAA is from someone shorting the stock. He is the flip side of Anne Aorta (the one who posted info on problems).

Maybe it's time you did a little reading... Compliance of a vascular graft refers to the change in diameter (or volume) due to a
given change in pressure. This isn't my definition, look it up in the ANSI/AAMI vascular graft prosthesis standards
document. This has nothing to do with conformability.

The Ancure graft in the unsupported section is indeed more conformable (not more compliant) than the stented AneuRx
graft. Here is where it get's tricky, so try to keep up- "Conformability" only matters where the graft seals on the vessel, which
is a stented area in all the grafts we've been discussing. If you really believe that the proximal stented region of Ancure seals
better than the equivalent region of the AneuRx graft, I can only lament that you have been badly misled and have never
actually tested both yourself. I have, and I know for a fact that the AneuRx graft does seal better on irregular surfaces than
the Ancure does.

But I digress- I have neither the time nor desire to try to make up for the obvious gaps in your understanding of vascular graft
mechanics and healing. This will have to suffice: There is just no connection between the graft separations to which you refer
and the physical properties of compliance or conformability.

Your concern for my patients is very much appreciated, but misplaced. I actually don't suggest anybody have a AAA
endograft unless they are a prohibitively poor surgical candidate, or have LE of less than ~5yr. As I mentioned before, I am
more concerned with proximal anuerysmal progression than I am with separation of a properly placed graft.

Let's chat some more after you've done some reading.

cheers
Walt
