HIA,

I understand the concern about Schedule D not mirroring the 1099, but I don't see any provision for a Schedule D entry. How would such an entry look?

If I were going to do it, I would enter only the description of property, the sale date and the sales price and on the next line put "Short Sale" as the description and the negative of the sales price to cancel in the sum, similar to the mechanism used to report wash sales.
