"AMD is probably getting about $100-$200 more per each 1G they ship - all that flows directly to the bottom line."

Okay, I'll take image + immediate bottom line impact. But $100-$200 is a huge spread. Which side of the divide do you think the 1GHz Athlon will fall on? Do you care to project how many such chips AMD will ship this quarter? As I assume that AMD wasn't planning on introducing the chip this quarter (and profits from it have not been factored into AMD's quarterly estimate) the .35 1Q 2000 estimate is going to be shattered just as last quarter's estimate was destroyed. (I guess by the number of my posts today, you can tell I'm excited by this announcement).
