Innovative Medical Services Names Gunner Lyslo as Director, Infectious Diseases Management
Revenues from Ionic Disinfecting Technology to be Realized this Quarter
SAN DIEGO--(BW HealthWire)--March 6, 2000-- Innovative Medical Services (Nasdaq:PURE - news) today announced that it has promoted Gunner Lyslo to the position of director, infectious diseases management.
Lyslo has 10 years experience in water treatment, specifically in the healthcare market. Prior to joining the IMS sales team in September 1999, Lyslo served as the director, Medical Division for a water purification manufacturer and oversaw a department that achieved 90 percent of new business market share. Lyslo has developed relationships with key individuals in the infectious diseases and engineering communities. In addition, while overseeing the research and development for new products, he gained significant experience working closely with infectious diseases experts, medical scientists and microbiologists recognized as leaders in their respective fields.
``Mr. Lyslo's industry experience and relationships fit perfectly with IMS and strengthen our business plan for explosive growth in the healthcare industry,' stated Michael L. Krall, president and chief executive officer of Innovative Medical Services. ``Mr. Lyslo demonstrated his leadership by crafting and launching a very aggressive business strategy to immediately generate revenues for IMS.'
Lyslo will initially focus on sales of the RMS technology into the hospital market. Innovative Medical Services expects to generate immediate revenues in this market segment because the RMS solves a very serious problem in hospital infrastructures. It is estimated that two thirds of hospital water systems can harbor bacteria, including Legionella -- the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires' disease, which can be deadly to patients with compromised immune systems. The RMS integrates with a hospital's water system to control bacteria within bio-film. Treatment of hospital water could reduce or eliminate patient infections and death resulting from Legionella, and national attention is focusing on Legionnaires' disease as a critical threat to hospital patients.
``The use of positively charged ions to control bacteria is a technology with tremendous opportunities. I am excited about joining IMS because we share a common vision and enthusiasm for the use of our revolutionary technologies and their countless applications,' commented Lyslo.
The Reservoir Metering System (``RMS') is a chemical-free disinfection system that effectively treats large volumes of water with ionic silver compounds. Designed to be a cost effective alternative to the use of halogens (chlorine) for water disinfection in either single pass or re-circulating systems, RMS technology delivers ionic silver using proprietary assayed electrodes. The ions are precisely introduced into the process water. Generation of the ion concentrate is produced off-line by the RMS without utilizing the process water, enabling the equipment to produce ions more effectively and efficiently than conventional ionization systems.
