Libel and slander are nothing, compared to all the other things the gov't regularly does with impunity to it's citizens.

I left one of the windows down in my car once in a parking lot, and came back to find the local chief of police searching through my trunk! He said since the window was down he assumed something was wrong and that gave him probable cause to search it! He had even opened and read my mail!
