Sony PS2 units already on EBAY, with one bid over $5k. These units are all from Japan, of course. (US versions won't be out till fall). This presents a problem for those winning bidders in the US.
The Japanese version runs on 100VAC,
The DVD player only works with "region 2" disks, which means that you won't be able to play US movies.
And it's probable game software released in the US won't work on the Japanese unit.
So it looks like the Americans get a PS2 that plays the Japanese demo game that comes with it, and not much else. ;-)

But when the US version gets here it will sell like hotcakes. From the videos and still's I've seen, this thing has outstanding realism. And it plays DVD movies and audio CD's to boot. (Eventually will connect to the net). I suspect it will eat into hi end PC's for gamers. Why spend $2000+ for a PC game system when this thing beats the heck out of the PC for only $370? And with this much realism it's great on large screen TV's.
This will be the Christmas present for 2000.

BTW, the PS2 probably has a lot to do with RMBS action today. Doesn't make sense at all to me. <g>
