Brian, I'm not an authority on options, but I do know that the number printed in the paper is the daily volume. I don't know where the open interest is listed. I call my broker to get it. It's hard to say what the significance is since call options can be used for short term speculation on a price increase and also as a hedge by short sellers. I get the feeling that in this case it's speculation. Ampex just isn't a good short at this time and at these prices. The bad news on earnings (if that's what it was) is out and there are some pleasant possible surprises on the horizon, not the least of which IMO is the pending Time Warner RFP mentioned recently on this thread.
