When Cornucopia and Newmont owned the property they must have been looking for a Carlin type deposit (high tonnage, low grade, amenable to heap leaching) and never found it.

Having Barrick's Meikle and Franco's Ken Synder mine more developed gave HD the incentive to approach the property from a different perspective and drill in new areas. The property turns out to be a high grade underground mine. So far, it looks very good.
