Hi Steven! nice to see most of the old gang has decided to post here. Now, as to your post....

res- <<<All evangelism is a violation of the right of others to hold - or not hold - their own beliefs, free from harassment or interference.>>>

This may come as a surprise to you. But religios freedom was one of the concepts this country was founded on. To believe that Pat Robertson and his church represents some hideous threat to America is fearmongering nonsense. Religios people aren't the problem in America. Bigotry, racism, and people intent of separating people into different religios stereotypes, thereby increasing divisiveness is.

Real leaders recognize that unity in diversity is the deep democracy that underlies the strength of America. And they attempt to create environments which emphasize our commitment to treating each other with dignity, trust and respect in each other's beliefs, values and differences.

Fundementalist Christianity is a part of our cultural diversity as a nation.

In divisional leadership, of the type practiced by McCain recently, there is no connectedness between the divided parts. In diversity there exist threads of unity.

Our country needs leadership which understands the importance of unity, not division.
