Basic facts: The phones are too expensive, and the calls are too expensive for the "average Joe."

Twenty-two years ago I was an "average Joey" who spent over $1,000 on a VCR. Thirteen years ago, I was an "average Joe" who spent over $1,000 on my first car phone. Today, I am a "slightly better than average Joseph" who can easily afford the $1,500 phone, $900 car kit, and the service. The key here is that this service is not for the "average Joe." G* is a niche product that fills a need. In developed countries, the question is how big is the need, not if they can afford it. In underdeveloped countries, the question is just the opposite.
