I'll let Tod speak for himself, but I have a say too.
This timeline thing is odd-looking, though not conspiratorial.
From November through January, I was as big a supporter of Genesis as one could find.
In January, "Investor" asked me to help do due diligence. We started with an arrangement of an on-site visit. Tod had recently contacted me, and I introducted Investor to Tod.
I helped these two arrange an on-site meeting.
Genesis cancelled the meeting, stating that Mohamed and Mike were in Las Vegas conducting business. (WAACO claimed they were in S. America.)
Investor and I kept in touch. We concluded that the cancellation, while plausible, didn't look professional. We considered, as hypostheses, that we were looking at more than a simple cancelled-meeting. In other words, something didn't smell right.
Investor and I both started looking for more information on GIFS/IMXS management. We learned from Lewis Elrod that he was not necessarily conducting an investigation into Genesis, but was very interested in anything anyone might like to volunteer about Zayed.
This red flag led to a separate investigation in which we learned that Zayed had four felony convictions. The investigation stopped, and Investor and I sold our shares at a loss.
Time frame to this point: January 16, 1997.
I then came onto the thread to warn other investors. People gave me a hard time. I invented Demosthenes del Fuego (Demosthenes was looking for an honest man). No one believed Des.
My alter-ego and I were insulted, harrassed and threatened. Jeff Silverman was one of the ones doing the threatening, with his office of 500 lawyers... So I stopped posting. My last post on the matter was January 30 1997.
Then, at the beginning of April, Essary/Waaco/SteetLevel published the Tonto/Tod Fantasy. My name was consistently, though less frequently, dragged through the mud. I sent a copy to Tod, who told me he was in the process of preparing legal action against Genesis and requesting a retraction from Essary.
Once Tod had fully convinced me of his position, I decided to answer Lee's post regarding some very pertinent and well thought-out questions. So I came back on the thread.
During this time, I had not spoken to anyone at the government of Tennessee. Essary blew another fantasy out of his ass and added fuel to my anger.
Within a couple of days, the state stepped in. And I was as surprised as everyone else. I didn't know they were going to take conservatorship.
Many people's investigations came to a head simultaneously. I'm guessing that the original Essary Fantasy libeling Tod (and me) was a pre-cursor to known bad news about to happen with BDO and Tennessee.
Hope this helps straighten out confusion regarding "conspiracy theories."
