Coherent Expansion at Turk Telekom
LEESBURG, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1997--Turk Telekomunikasyon A.S. (Turk
Telekom) has just expanded its installation of EC-6000 Series 2 Digital Echo Cancellers from
leading echo cancellation and voice enhancement specialist, Coherent Communications Systems.
Turk Telekom has recently installed an additional 150 groups of Coherent echo cancellers - 100
groups are for use in its newly-installed international DMS300 switch in Izmir, with 50 to be
implemented in its satellite IBS (International Business Services) network for rural area
communications. Representing part of the PTT's submarine and international terrestrial F/O cable
interconnection and termination program, the exchanges are being extended to handle another
2000 international traffic trunks during 1997.
With this latest order, Turk Telekom's total installation of EC-6000 Series 2 echo cancellers is
over 500 groups, operating across the full spectrum of the PTT's international network. This
includes an extensive IBS satellite network, which currently encompasses 25 earth stations across
Turkey, as well as the PTT's DCME submarine link.
Coherent has a long-established relationship with Turk Telekom, dating back to 1992 when the
PTT first installed EC-6000 units at its international exchanges. Commenting on the performance
