While on the subject of carrier's carriers, I just thought I would throw out some thoughts about Qwest and Nacchio(CEO of Qwest).

I recall when Nacchio jumped into the too much capacity yada hype via his announcement, "I need customers because all this too much capacity talk is scaring me." As you may remember he killed the deal between US West and Global Crossing. Jumped in and put together a much higher offer for US West that shareholders did end up approving.

Well now look what has happened. From all that yada talk about too much capacity, out of the blue springs Deutsche Telekom. Who now places an astronomical value (rumored to be double Qwest's recent market cap) of $75 Billion(!) on Qwest. Suddenly Nacchio appears to be pulling a Steve Case. He now wants out of the deal with US West, but of course he has to be very diplomatic about it.

An overlooked Qwest asset(40-something percent owner), a carrier's carrier network being built in Europe, "KPN Qwest." I think that may be Deutsche Telekom's real target. But I'm only guessing.

Anyhow, I thought it was amusing that not only us individual investors tends to get caught up in Wall Street's games, but apparently BIG thinkers like Nacchio do too.<g> -MikeM(From Florida)
